More About Firm Beginnings Foundation
FIRM BEGINNINGS FOUNDATION (FBF) is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) on a mission to empower underprivileged communities in Tanzania, especially the youth and women, with relevant life and entrepreneurship skills which drive transformative growth for quality education, decent work and poverty alleviation.
In Tanzania 75% of the population is comprised of the youth (defined in East Africa as 0 - 35 years) while half of Tanzania's population today, is female. Despite these numbers and efforts by the Tanzanian government to advance women empowerment, there still persists gender inequities and lack of youth inclusion. Women and youth are among the most marginalized and underutilized Tanzanian citizens.
In response to these challenges, FBF designed programs that provide life and entrepreneurship trainings, mentorship and counseling to youth and women as they pursue their academic courses and daily lives respectively. This ensures the youth- in- school have the necessary skills to successfully complete their studies and thrive in the labor market while those out-of-school and women groups access resources and opportunities that will help them become full actors in their own well-being.
The programs are tailored to specific local needs and inclusive of the local culture to equip youth and women with resources and support they need, to manage their lives in a healthy and productive manner.
